This is a great wood carving tool. I believe the notoriety of flexible cuts is that they are spring steel so they flex and the edge is hardened to withstand excellent sharpening. It should work well because I've found I can control the cutting in the smallest of turns. and angles with great precision. The handle is ergonomic and I can cut for hours without getting tired. I am very happy with this V shaped tool.

My daughter who is a beginner and I use this Flexcut. She has normal sized hands and I have oversized mittens and the Flexcut fits our hands equally well despite the size difference. My daughter cuts ink stamps on linoleum and rubber blocks. I carve denser woods like oak, walnut and cherry. The steel should be fairly good as the tool stays sharp for a long time between dressings for fine detail work. I have found that regular brushing is enough to keep this V-Cut razor sharp. Great tool for detailing. I have RA and was having a really hard time using my eye cutters so I tried v-tool. I am very happy with the results. It came out of the box razor sharp and feels good in the hand. Unfortunately I dropped it on the concrete floor the first time I used it and of course it landed point down so I had to sharpen it with diamond stones.
