We don't have a lot of storage space, so when I get things for crafting, I prefer to get things which I can store pretty easily and don't take up tons of room. I've been working on flip books with my 9yo and 7yo. As a bit of advice, I HIGHLY recommend searching for a tutorial video before you dive in - there's a ton out there, and they're especially helpful in learning how to actually do this well. I selected this gift for my 14 year old grand who likes to illustrate. She reported back that "the cards were too thick for the light box so I wasn't able to trace anything." However, she is creative enough to sketch her own characters . This product has the potential to be a valuable creative outlet, but needs some better field testing.

Wanted to like this item and surprise my eleven year old with it, but was not impressed. Said it was a new item; however, straight out of the box the protective film cover on top of the drawing board was misaligned and slightly dirty, as were a few places on the back of the board. This is a great looking little kit, except, it's worthless when used together. The light source would be great if you wanted to use index cards as the pages but, if you try to use the predrilled pages included in the kit, you're totally out of luck. You can't see the images, even on the brightest setting. Huge disappointment for my 11 year old.

I found that these are fun with kids or grown up. Any adult who likes to draw at all with have a blast with these. I had a friend who was a safe sex advocate and she drew a condom that when you flip the pages it puts itself on.Kids find it fascinating because they keep drawing the almost same thing over and over and so they have created their own mini cartoon! I was really excited for this flipbook set and light board but once I received it I felt a little discouraged because of the size and dots that cover the light board. I can't complain about the size since it is listed in the description but I wish the photos would've had a size comparison. We made our first "movie” with a 7 year old. Patience is required, so we had to step in and draw some frames, but stuck with it. The paper is a nice quality, however, flipping through the pages smoothly is a big challenge. The light board is a huge help, can’t imagine working without it. We used a thick binder clip to keep the pages in order while we worked, then finished with the brass screws provided. Lots of fun.

Light pad has dotted "eye protective" inner surface that blocks light to the point that even the highest setting will not allow the drawing to show through to be traced when using the provided cardstock flipbook pages. The pages are great, and perfect thickness for smooth flipping action. The light will work with regular paper, but trying to make a flipbook with thin paper would not function properly either. This flip book art kit is so cute, especially the light pad, which is ultra thin and it is amazing how that mini USB fits.But it does, and it makes the process of creating a flip book that much easier. You could probably go through the trouble of cutting numerous sheets of paper, then hole punching them, then finding the hardware to put the books together, but this kit makes all that work unnecessary so you can go right to work on the project.The paper is of decent quality, the hardware to bind

This kit makes it fairly easy to create flipbook animations even if you aren’t an artist. The thin and light weight light board makes it possible to work with animation by tracing. Once you have it complete, you can assemble it using the three sizes of screws provided. I have one granddaughter who is already a talented artist. This worked well for her. The flipbook raw materials seem to be acceptable quality, but the LED backlight is a big disappointment and mostly unusable as intended. There is no easy way to hold the pages in place against the backlight and the backlight isn't bright enough to bleed through a single page from behind. Visibility improves a little if you block off the extra light around the edges of the page, but you'd have to build your own mask or page holder to get it to work passably well. It's not really a complete kit.

My 6 year old doesn't use it exactly as intended, but he loves it. Look forward to growing into it and utilizing all the features.

This kit was perfect! My son really wanted an animation kit, and for the price this one was perfect. The light box works well and the materials seem high quality. He loved it and it kept him busy for quite a while!

My daughter wanted this same item from a more popular brand at double the cost. So we decided to try this one out and the quality is amazing. So glad I saved so much money on the exact item.

My teenage son is super into comics and things. He was so excited about this set. It comes with a smallish light box. It does not come with a plug for the light box. It is pretty easy to figure out how to make the flipbook. It’s a lot of fun. My son absolutely loves it.

The lightbox is a great way to learn how to draw, and a great way to make drawings in series. This has proven to be a good way to spend time with my niece and nephew. It's easy to set up and packs away easily when it's time to clean up.
