I have used these on an angle grinder and did a fantastic job restoring badly corroded aluminum. They wear out quickly, but I think that's a feature. I could hand grind Scotchbrite for hours or spin an angle grinder for about 10 minutes to get the same result. I like them - they worked well for my needs.

These things are terrible. I think you could shave the kid's head, stick the hair on the disc, and that would be better. I literally saw 3. I took them apart right in front of my eyes and never managed to get all the rust off. No steel cancer, a nice even layer of rust. I wouldn't recommend them even for a terrible sponge.

I tried using them to prepare the surface of an aluminum pontoon that was dirty below the waterline. freshwater algae. On a 4 1/2" angle grinder the pads wore out very quickly. I was trying to remove paint from an old airstream I'm renovating. This is a very hard paint --- probably an old oil base. Stripper didn't help and I tried all sorts of sanding discs and stripping wheels. they were all too abrasive and damaged the aluminum. these pads are perfect. They remove paint and will not damage soft aluminum. Of course, discs wear out pretty quickly because they are softer, but that's their whole plus. They're pretty cheap and I'm willing to use more to get the job done…

I was hesitant to order them because some said they were short lived. Not sure what they expected from 320 grit, but they shouldn't pick up rough stuff. You can only reach them after grinding with coarser grits. Anyway, one wheel was enough for me to sand a 5 foot long x 2 foot wide oak bench with 10 inch high ends plus 5 inch thick sides of the board, all twice and the wheel can still be used.
