Mix and match bits for upper and lower profiles to produce nine different designs. Use only in a router table with minimum 6" high fence, mill in 3 or more passes. Use featherboards and hold downs to hold stock down & against the fence. Use pusher blocks or a push stick to feed stock. Make test cuts in scrap stock first.
No crown cast is completed without this tip as you need a 52 degree bevel and a 38 degree bevel to make the right cuts. I have tried different methods and this cutter is excellent!
I have a Folley Bellsaw with shaping cutter heads. They usually have two blades to cut off the crown. One for the face profile, the other for the 52 and 48 degree bevel on the back. Buying just the front saved over a hundred dollars on a custom set I made. This router has cut perfect bevels on the back. Highly recommended.
Before this purchase I forgot what premium cutters are. I usually get by with inexpensive, smaller profile cutters. Their hardness and cutting precision work flawlessly and are mostly reusable. But when it comes to high performance cutters that are either large mass or large diameter like this Freud cutter - a big gun - hardness/cut is not as important as BALANCE. It's a huge bit, and any cheaper bit would rattle right out of the router table and shake screws, but not this pristine Freud bitβ¦
