I have this DVD player/recorder and it is very reliable as both a burner and a player. My first recorder was RCA, which only accepted DVD+RW (the most expensive of them all). I underline this in capital letters BUY SONY DVD. Both my RCA and this SV2000 record to white recordable Sony DVDs every time (the SV2000 records perfectly to SONY DVD+R 16X DISCS).
