My experience with DVDs burning and not burning on SV2000

I have this DVD player/recorder and it is very reliable as both a burner and a player. My first recorder was RCA, which only accepted DVD+RW (the most expensive of them all). I underline this in capital letters BUY SONY DVD. Both my RCA and this SV2000 record to white recordable Sony DVDs every time (the SV2000 records perfectly to SONY DVD+R 16X DISCS). I've had very little, terribly, no success at all with the Maxell, Memorex, and TDK brands in all forms of DVD recording. when trying to record on both the RCA DVD recorder and the SV2000. If you look closely at all brands, you will see that the recording area of Sony discs is much closer to the center of the disc compared to others. Maybe the laser can't see the reflective recording surface at the beginning of the formatting cycle?) Conclusion BUY SONY they always work. One more thing to note: Always check your disc a few times when burning. I've noticed that on both recorders I had to hit stop many times after getting the message "This disc cannot be burned" and hit burn again, it recorded fine but hit stop first. I suggest experimenting with both rewritable and rewritable Sony discs. It took me two weeks to realize that you can set the recording time by pressing the REC MODE button on the SV2000's front panel. Watch the bottom corner of the screen change from 1 o'clock to 6 o'clock as you press the button. A USB computer interface would be nice, although these days you can get tuner cards for your computer with coaxial or S-Video connections that you can easily use with the built-in DVD recorder ("My Crowseater" $30<). Install the HighMAT plugin and you can watch slideshows with music etc. on your TV. So go surfing, grandma!
