Not for styrofoam and foam moldings

Not suitable for styrofoam crowns. The tool does not have enough contact area to form a 4 inch polystyrene crown which tends to flex when held in the tool. I have not been able to successfully sever connections using this tool. It might work for sturdier materials like wood or MDF, but it's utterly useless for styrofoam.

Pros
  • One-year trial period
Cons
  • Secret

It's safe to trust 5 star reviews

Makes crown trimming easier. I had never carved a crown before and I confess it was a little scary making the first cut because I didn't have any extra material to use if I made a mistake. I read the instructions carefully, checked and re-checked my measurements and thankfully got it right the first time. This simple piece of plastic is worth the money you would spend on litter alone.

I wish I could buy this when I put the crown on the old house

Like almost everyone else, this is a great tool. Sure you could make a crown molding out of plywood, but for less than $20 why bother. I liked the fact that the molding is upside down, unlike some others on the Revain - it's a lot easier to visualize when you don't have to think upside down and backwards. Combine this with the FastCap Trim Clip and one person can install the trim in half the time.

Makes crown shaping almost easy.

I only used this for internal connections but it works as described. It's accurate and allows for much smoother cuts. You must use the included angle finder, don't assume your angles are true 90, most of them are not. The instructions are good and illustrated. I held them together with the template and watched until I had done enough to remember which way the table and template went depending on the side of the cut. This makes crown shaping with just a miter/miter saw and not very feasible…

Good enough for the consumer/hobbyist

These are very useful items for occasional/small use.1. Excellent guide. I really admire how well they put them together with the photos because the molding jig can be quite confusing when used in other ways. Could be tougher. The forming jig has some flex and this can knock off the corners a bit if a large piece of crown molding is clamped onto it. Over time I had to learn exactly how much pressure to apply to get the right angle. If the attachment were more rigid, this would not be a…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I've done a crown before and fought with the reverse back method. I have a room with 8 walls at different angles. The angle finder works well on walls that slope up to 100º. I also had to use my digital protractor. One small issue is that the end of the length is now on the bottom. makes corners easier, but your final length isn't measured above, so you'll have to guess where the blade will meet. Start the first cut generously and you can adjust the angle to your liking. It only takes a cut or…

Good tool if you have the right saw

Determining the actual cutting position is easier if your saw has a laser to indicate the cutting line. Laser. All moldings are measured to the bottom edge of the molding, and in this template that edge is down, away from where the saw blade enters the piece to be cut. If you don't have a laser on the saw, you need to consistently position the jig on the saw to both the left and right side of the saw guard and then know exactly how far from a specific spot on the jig the blade will cut. Part…

Fiction! I've used it and haven't made a single mistake with my hole saws

I'm a weekend warrior with a pathetic Delta 10 foot miter saw. I wanted to put a crown on my kitchen cabinets and after watching a few videos I was trying to figure out how to "turn the crown upside down and then flip the cut side to the opposite side". Edger carpenters constantly put on the crown, so they are used to mental gymnastics to carve the inside corner. This confusion disappears completely with this crown attachment. Insert the stock right side up and drop the blade. The mount is…
