I recently switched from a Mac to a PC, but wanted my old 27-inch iMac, which was basically a paperweight, as a second monitor for video editing from a PC use laptop. This converter is amazing and did exactly what I needed - the resolution is amazing, no lag but then again - I don't use it as a display mirror - just as an extension. I also bought a Displayport to Mini Displayport cable with this adapter to upgrade to an iMac.

Through other reviewers, I found that cables with both HDMI and DisplayPort connections only work with a computer's DisplayPort output to an HDMI connection on a monitor work; they don't work backwards. So if, like me, you want to connect a PC's HDMI output to a monitor's DisplayPort, you'll need one. This requires USB power, which is usually available on the back of the PC, and 7" cables keep these two ports on the PC a little over a foot apart.

So I had an event I work at and the only monitor I could access for my A/V table was the display port model. Both of my presentation machines went to an HDMI matrix switcher for displays. I had to switch from HDMI back to DP. I bought this converter to plug into the back of my matrix switcher and then run it with my monitor. The signal was excellent. Great Adapter. There are so few devices on the market that go from HDMI to DisplayPort, usually vice versa, and they don't work bidirectionally. I only found 2-3 adapters from HDMI -> DP and decided to try this one first as it had the most good reviews even though the other one was from a 'more famous brand'. If your computer only has HDMI video output and your monitor only has DisplayPort input, this is what you need. I'm not thrilled that it occupies a USB port, but I still use an external multiport USB hub so it wasn't a problem. The video quality is much better than using a long VGA cable which always gave me trailing "ghosting". The video quality with this adapter and the long DisplayPort cable is almost perfect. I use this converter between my PS4 Pro and my Acer Predator XB270HUbprz GSYNC monitor at 2160p. Other converters (around $40) only support 720p. As described, this supports 1080p, and even with supersampling enabled on the PS4 Pro, the image is rendered quickly and smoothly. The cheaper ones had noticeable input lag with supersampling.
