I love these heating pads. I raise kittens and our emergency medical service delivers cats and kittens to stores. The panes have proven handy for sick foster parents and we use them in shops when it's cold as doors open and close to let in cold air and the cat shelter is right outside. They are safe and will keep you warm for hours after being microwaved.

I'm feeding a feral cat and using it to warm up a bowl of wet food. I made a styrofoam envelope to help insulate it further. The pillow doesn't generate much heat but does the job I need it to do. I hear it twice on very cold Wisconsin days. This is a non-woven cover hard drive. I seem to remember that the lid was just neatly in place, but I'm not 100% sure. If washability is important to you, keep checking. It fits in a zippered gallon bag.

I have been using pet safety pillows for about seven years now. My cats love them. They are so easy to use. Microwave for five minutes and then just set it where the cats sleep. They are especially liked by older cats, I'm sure it's good for their arthritis. I've used them outdoors and in feral cat beds. They come to them in cold weather. Fantastic product. Much easier than electric heating pads or some other microwave heating pads on the market. Lasts about 12 hours under a thin blanket.

My new kitten loves it! We usually like the coolness of the house with the AC on, so we turn it on when our little guy (kitten) is going to bed or just wants to chat. He hugs him and walks away when necessary. I love that there are no cords as I used to use a heating pad while waiting for this amazing thing to arrive in the mail and limit myself to where I could use it and then wrap it in a towel had to. and hiding it under the covers wasn't always pleasant. this thing is amazing we used an electric heating pad but were constantly worried that the kittens would be curious and chew the wire. Now we just heat it in the microwave, wrap it in a towel and it easily holds the heat for 12 hours. The kittens we raise love it, and even our adult cats love it when the kittens aren't around.
