I'm feeding a feral cat and using it to warm up a bowl of wet food. I made a styrofoam envelope to help insulate it further. The pillow doesn't generate much heat but does the job I need it to do. I hear it twice on very cold Wisconsin days. This is a non-woven cover hard drive. I seem to remember that the lid was just neatly in place, but I'm not 100% sure. If washability is important to you, keep checking. It fits in a zippered gallon bag.
