These aren't the best blocks

V, top and bottom are ground. The ends are finished and slightly rough. Two edges are machined and slightly rough. In my pair, the Vs match well, the top and bottom fit between the two blocks within my ability to measure (less than 0.001 inch). The paint is rough, the rough surfaces are a bit rougher than I could have been. expected but not a real problem. These aren't the best blocks, but they are more than I expected for the price.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Without automation

SIDES NOT GROUNDED, other issues

If you don't use the sides, they're great. Unfortunately the two sets I received cost 8k. I have a set of micrometers, not those stupid calipers, so that's a real measurement. I was expecting more consistency between movements, even if they didn't fit together. The overall height and depth of the V-groove varies: 8,000 when one anvil is on the ground rod in a V-shape and the other is on the bottom. Any matching set is perfect though, so if you're creative you can always use two mismatched…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Fairly rough throw but quite square

I ran a rock around all the edges and eliminated some throwing problems. Except for this roughness, they're fairly square and true to one another. No wobble when holding 1-2-3 block or test square. It's the same quality I seem to find in most HHIP stuff. Good for squareness and precision and tends to be a bit rough in the finish area. I suppose you could buy maybe three sets of these blocks and finish them yourself for the price of a set of brand S or M which are probably pre-made. For a tool I

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • Short instructions
