I don't know if it's the design of the hook or if I mishandled it, but the hook body came off the screw when I tried to attach it.

We used regular mug hooks to hang the mugs and it was too easy to knock one off and break it. These are nice and big mug handles and the protective tab will ensure we don't have any more tragic accidents! We don't take them off very often, so I'm not too concerned about the tongue becoming loose or bending too much. Perfect for my campervan. Holds my large mugs securely. I pre-drilled the hole a little smaller than the diameter of the rod of this cup hook so that the rod "bites" into the wood well. I was then able to easily screw the hook into the hole by hand. The bottom of my upper cabinet is thin, maybe 1/4 inch plywood, and I was concerned that the hook wouldn't hook into the wood enough for the hook to hold up well.
