Good capture on Linux, competent retail packaging

This HornetTek HDMI video capture device came in retail packaging with this printed manual. At $80 I wasn't sure what to expect considering the device is brand new and an equivalent magewell recorder usually costs around $300, but I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing Magewell doesn't have is a power LED. Capturing on Linux with OBS was flawless at 1080p60 and after a few minutes of capturing the device was noticeably cooler than my Magewell. too popular and not out of production because i

SMALL BUT VERY ESSENTIAL

This is a small but essential device to complete your video program. A few handy demos mention the filter BUT they aren't specific enough to make it clear that THIS is a necessary tool! The instructions that came with this unit were very clear and once it was in place picture perfect!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled

AV multimedia specialist recommends. yes i bought it

Nothing special, but the results are very acceptable at 60 fps. No drivers were required, which updated after 24 hours of operation, as did the temperature of the device. warm only, not scalding like many HDMI and USB powered devices. Successful tests with OBS, Zoom, Panopto, Teams when submitting the old Surface Pro output as an annotation device. Costs money.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Works better than expected

I've used this on Mac and Windows machines. It worked great both times. Just plug in and get started. It came with a USB cable, but it's very short. I use it to hook my camcorder into the OBS live streaming software and I haven't had any connection or display issues. It's hard to know much about this product which is why I only gave 4 stars. But otherwise there are no complaints.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • annoying

Works as promised, good for computers and accessories

I like that it's cheap and comes with a USB 3.0 cable. The instructions are only good if you use it to record video to file. I wanted to use it with OBS (streaming software) to capture my tablet's output and send it to my desktop where I'm streaming for a college class. Here's a downside (although I don't think it's really a product downside): you have to make sure you plug it into a USB 3.0 port! If you plug it into a regular port, there will be a beep and Windows will recognize the device…

  • delivery was very fast

Great for my Windows desktop, not so great for MacOS

I bought this to record high quality videos with my old Nikon D5600 DSLR and then with my Sony a7III because at the time it the only decent thing was hdmi capture device you could get. Everything works fine on my Windows PC with Ryzen 7 2700x and RTX 2070 graphics card. The video quality of my Sony a7III is excellent at 1080p. On my 2019 13" MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7, the 1080p video feed from my Sony camera is lagging. Nikon is fine, but the HDMI stream is 720p. Around with the Sony…

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
