Bought and fitted with separate switches for fan and lights, did not work. I called Hunter customer service and they said the remote's signal was lost and because it's built into the fan motor it can't be reprogrammed and I have an authorization number to return it. Revain sent me a second one and it was installed by a licensed electrician and the fan jerked sportily and just stopped as if the engine was tethered. This is a very nice fan, but for $300 I expect a lot more from the Hunter. We have a fan connected to a light and fan switch. None of them work just by flipping them. You also need to figure out what combination turns things on with the remote control. The remote control beeps, the fan vibrates as if balancing before it starts spinning. This fan is both confusing and annoying. The installation instructions show the correct wiring, especially if you have a switch or two, which means you use those switches to turn on or off. But the fan only seems to work if you turned the fan on and then turned it on with the remote. The light switch works in reverse.
