This pump is truly automatic

After purchasing an "automatic" pump from a large store, I found that it needed to be monitored and unplugged after pumping was complete. Otherwise, it will run every three minutes and burn out quickly. This pump does the job. Set and forget. I use it to pump rainwater out of a small open boat that is left unattended for days.

Pros
  • a handy item
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Water pump worked as described. During test runs, the water was displaced fairly quickly. Overall I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The only problem I had was not with the pump itself but trying to find the right hose to connect to to make it easy/easy to use for my wife to service when I can't.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Something else

Doesn't work at all

The pump didn't work at all. I received it today and as a test I put it in a bucket of fairly clean rainwater I collected from a recent rain (the kind I would use for pumping) and plugged it in. No, nothing, no sound, doesn't work, doesn't work! Tried multiple GFI sockets. You would think a company would test their pumps before shipping them. I would like to give 0 stars for that. Sent it back and will buy another brand.

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • No automatic

This is the only water pump I could find that starts to pump just 1/3 inch of water and stops on its own. Water entered the basement. Was able to catch water in a small area so the pump kept the basement dry. Not suitable for pumping water unless you can find a control value (which we couldn't find anywhere). We only had to pump 20 feet to dump the water at the same level as the pump.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Ideal solution for hard-to-reach places

During daily flooding, water seeps under the house. Installed pool systems and gutters but still a puddle under the house. This pump is perfect. I installed it, connected it and it works. As soon as a puddle forms, it works and pumps out water. Auto On/Off is the clutch for hard-to-reach and controlled applications. It's under the office in our house and we never hear it turn on and off, but we can see the water flowing. Excellent investment.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not everything fits

The little pump that could!

The house was built in an area with an underground river. French drains usually keep the basement fairly dry except during heavy rains. This little pump stood the test when Hurricane Ida poured 5.96 inches of rain. The pump was installed in the basement where water gushed. The pump turned on automatically and worked for more than 4 hours, which helped prevent flooding. The contractor asked for $10,000 to install drains in the basement, but we're sticking with our $100 pump!

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Nothing

Another useless product from HydraSense

I bought an earlier version of this pump because I need an automatic pump that starts at less than 1/2 inch of water. The first was a total failure because it ran once and never again. So I made a BIG mistake hoping that this "improved" version 1.2 would solve this problem. NO! I turned it off during our first heavy rain, turned it on and then about 15 seconds later it stopped completely and stayed that way and the water rose 1 inch and flooded my living room. As much as I hope these will be…

Great when it works

I bought this to pump out the low ground near my foundation that fills with water during heavy rain. I put it on slabs of slate to keep it from picking up dirt and grass. Everything started great and prevented the water from stagnating even in heavy rain. I even recommended it to my brother for his basement walk. About 2 months into it it didn't start to pump, didn't wobble a bit. But once it was first started, it turned itself on as the water level rose. Now at 4 months old, regardless of the…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Excellent customer service

After reporting that the auto-on function was not working, a replacement pump was sent promptly. When a replacement had the same issue, a company representative worked with me to try and resolve the issue. After many emails trying to explore different possibilities, a solution was found. As it turned out, the problem wasn't with the pump, but with the water I had to pump. I collected clean rainwater and it wasn't conductive enough to trigger the switch when the level rose. The pump had to be…
