Not what you think: Computers and accessories

The docking station is solid and IS exactly what you thought. The locking mechanism is in the OFF position when the drive is in the ON state. The locking mechanism locks the drive by rotating it around the corner of the disc when installed and acts as an ejector mechanism. I would think it would be fine if this was installed on a server or on a laptop to be used as a desktop, but for a laptop to be carried around I think it will catch on everywhere. Also, it looks like shit =/

Massive versatility

Installation was easy. I found (as expected) that the locking latch is too small and too plasticky to hold the ejection handle securely in place if enough pressure is applied to it. No tools are needed to damage the handle, but of course this can prevent carelessly from fully extracting it. 4 stars overall, high consistent performance with direct booting to my SSD that I installed. The ejection mechanism itself makes a reliable impression. PS I had to cut off a tiny corner of the bezel to…

Drive disconnected from motherboard

It worked for me but after a few drive swaps it seemed to come up but the drive wasn't connected to the motherboard SATA port. I thought it was something mechanical so I removed the cover to see how the drive fits into the slot. Everything looked fine, but when I tried to pull it out, the lever flew up and the feathers flew in abundance. Trying to assemble it without instructions won't cost you $20. I found and bought a better version. https://www.amazon.com and data. It now connects to the…

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Some issues

Notebook HP Pavilion M7, Windows 10, x64. I contacted the company to make sure it was compatible. They said it would. That's absolutely not true. Not recognized by Windows, Device Manager, BIOS, nothing. There is no way to change anything in the BIOS to make it recognized. I understand that it may not be compatible with some BIOSes like all Dell or all HP and maybe Lenovo, ASUS and other laptops. Just tell me before I buy it. Plus, it's not even removed, leaving a cave to house an SSD. It's a…

Works great but be gentle

It's really nice to have. I plugged it into a Dell Optiplex Windows XP project computer. I can quickly remove the SSD and make a full backup on my main computer and just put it back in when I'm done. I can use this to quickly swap out different drives to test different operating systems. It works pretty well, but one day when the drive was swapped out too quickly, it got stuck in the dock. I had to pull it out by pressing the eject button. That night it happened 2 or 3 more times but it all…

Weak/weak springs and flimsy plastic parts

I don't really speak German but another reviewer seems to describe how the product ejection mechanism broke within the first five minutes. I had the same experience. I took mine apart to see what I could do about it and found that one of the two springs MUST be replaced, but I could already see that part of the plastic mechanism would break and even the replaced spring would be useless. But even with these shortcomings, the device does exactly what I need it to do. I didn't buy this to…
