This stuff is perfect!

From time to time a tool/product re-evaluates its presentation and application. A few decades ago I used this material in batches and didn't think about it. The insulation was insulation, tape or varnish, so what? With time and distance, pesky [wonder / lump / kleps] shop also needs renovation. When that special someone cuts the jacket on the tool cord for an early release, you'll be back with a new connector in moments. Concerned about dangling lines or tripping hazards? Wrap and protect…

Pros
  • Suitable for damaged cables or where insulation is required
Cons
  • A newer model could have been selected

Works great if you follow these instructions.

I am writing this because I have seen some negative reviews about the product not working. It almost put me off buying it, but I'm still glad I did. At first I couldn't get it to work. Here are the instructions for using this product: 1) Wrap the connecting wire tightly 6 or 8 times 2) Cut the end of the ribbon with scissors to leave a clean edge 3) Singe the cut end of the ribbon with you a lighter. This will make the edge…

Pros
  • Non Adhesive Shrink Tape
Cons
  • Expensive

With the right methodology, it worked great.

Totally agree with the methodology described by the reviewer. I copy below for reference. Tape I just used with two banana clips on the ends after I finished wrapping. In fact, the heat gun must be installed low. With that in mind, I was able to complete the shrinking process with relative ease. I had some 5 inch wires that were part of a bundle that I couldn't make out. So I couldn't use conventional shrink tubing. This tape helped me. For reference, this is the method I had in mind: Here are…

Pros
  • Heat can be supplied by conventional and commercial fan heaters
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
