I was surprised by the quality for this price.

I bought a used Xeon X5550 for 500 to replace my i7-920 with a broken memory controller, because of which neither the memory could work above the standard 1066 MHz processor, nor overclock the processor, or lower / increase the voltage on the core. I am completely satisfied with the processor, I took this particular model, because. slightly higher frequency in Turbo Boost compared to i7-920 and lower TDP, + the memory controller in the processor already supports 1333 MHz memory without…

Pros
  • - Performance, 4 cores and 8 threads - Low price used processor - TDP less than i7-920 - Supports out of the box memory frequency of 1333 MHz - Easily runs on regular, non-server, LGA1366 motherboards - Easily overclocked to 4 GHz and beyond
Cons
  • - The motherboard is hard to find, and if found, it will be expensive in 99% of cases

Everything is fine, there are only minor drawbacks.

Worked as a pair on a work computer, CINEBENCH 1000 points (pair) - recently changed them to six-core x5670 (became 1300 cb). At home it costs i7-6700k - the same 1000 points but on one processor. Still, progress does not stand still, but a car on a pair of xeons today is three times cheaper than a car on the latest generation i7. Has some pros XEON x5570 - a chic $30 percent, for the home it's the best thing if you need it inexpensively, but angrily. It draws all applications and games…

Processor only, no heatsink or fan

From the photo it appears to come in a retail box containing the base heatsink and fan. It comes in an unmarked brown cardboard box with dirty foam packaging. A little disappointed but the price was cheap.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Not bad

Great Computers and Accessories

Many of these negative reviews relate to issues with the seller, not the product. I've had great success with this processor, probably the fastest you can get for a few bucks. Use this in a Proliant ML350 G6 for a long time, no problem.

Pros
  • Fair Price
Cons
  • Stupid

The NSK3480 case with FSP Zen 400 and a pair of GV-R485MC-1GH turned out to be a small, generally silent and really powerful computer. And not wildly expensive, economical in terms of electricity. Without overclocking, there are no brakes anywhere, it's scary, Crysis 1920x1200 with maximum graphics flies like an old Wolfenstein on a Pentium. When choosing a mother, it is important that HyperThread is not disabled (most popular ones are disabled) and that the minimum memory frequency of the…

Pros
  • Together with Thermalright HR-01 Plus does not overheat at all, no matter what you do, without a fan. Due to HyperThread, 8 cores are visible (D0 stepping). If you monitor the load of the cores, it is noticeable that TurboBoost really works, the distribution is done in such a way as not to use unnecessary cores as much as possible - it saves electricity, which is important if the computer is pumping around the clock. Even though it says "for systems featuring two lga1366 sockets" on the box, it works fine in a regular DFI LANPARTY JR X58-T3H6 single-processor mother. i7 similar to this in terms of bells and whistles yet. And 125W is not 80W at all. Vista Ultimate x64 is great, but XP Pro x64 is just great.
Cons
  • Regularly, the memory is a maximum of 1066 (I installed 6 GV36GB1333C7TC - you can overclock it to 1333). The nominal frequency is 2.26 (you can overclock). This is the youngest processor from the "normal" ones - all of which have the third digit 0 in their names - generally castrati, neither TurboBoost nor HyperThread and a maximum of 800 memory. Read the docks on Intel. It would be possible to take the e5540, it is already 60W, but it is quite expensive. In short, there are no shortcomings.
