This was my first KVM switch I tried. On the third try, I finally have one that works with my 4K monitor. It would toggle my keyboard and mouse with no problems, but not the video monitor. The box says it supports my 4K resolution but that won't work. I spoke to IOGear tech support and they were very nice. Their only solution was to buy a $275 device which they said would work. I found another Revain KVM switch that sells for about $79 that works and I'm happy with it. This is not IOGear.

This is a GCS1782DPKIT test. I think some of the six in front of me are definitely NOT suitable for this switch as this one is not HDMI ready and never can be as their reviews show. Obviously they've also made physical connections, so it's not like they're confusing interfaces. I think Revain pointed to the wrong product. THIS version, DVI version, GCS1782DPKIT. Says it supports HDMI to DP but it doesn't. Adapters are not "active" for HDMI to DP conversion. You can either buy a dedicated DP-KVM or shell out another $30 for an active port. Keyboard and mouse switching works fine. The scroll switch is intermittent. Next time I would look for a different model.

I bought a cheaper KVM which I used for a few months, the keyboard switch eventually died so my son recommended this brand. I use this with a Mac Mini and a Dell desktop computer running Ubuntu Linux and a LG24 monitor. The switching time is less than 3 seconds compared to the old one which could be 30 seconds or more. I had to return it because while it "worked" it worked really bad and I could see constant scan lines on my desktop monitor and this is my eyes would kill. I had to use an HDMI to DVI cable and the other computer was a Linux laptop, so maybe that's part of the problem. Looked good on a laptop. At a certain price point in KVM switches, it makes sense to make room for more hardware instead. Never had any luck with anything like that.

I did a lot of research before purchasing and the performance was unacceptable. Setup is easy, the hardware seems to be of good quality, and the cables are very solid. It works BUT. From time to time the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds at random moments. Sometimes he does this over and over again at five second intervals. Sometimes it takes 1-2 minutes for it to happen again.
