Not compatible with most computers or adapters.

This particular model only works when the computer is OFF at 30Hz. This mode hasn't been present on modern GPUs for more than half a century. Also, the Displayport implementation doesn't allow customization for HDMI input or output, so most computers just can't work with it. I ended up upgrading to GCS1934m which is slightly better.

Works most of the time

Works fine most of the time. However, I arrive one morning and it seems that one or more computers have lost sync while going through the switch. I have to unplug and plug back their displayport to cpu cable which messes up the desktop.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not automatic

not worth the headache

I needed this for three computers I use and have spare inputs to use with the computers I work on for friends/family. BUT it does NOT work with all mouse/keyboard combinations. Doesn't recognize anything other than a two button mouse. If I want to use a mouse with a wheel, I need to connect a spare mouse to the computer I'm actually using. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't upgrade to a 4K and DisplayPort monitor and get stuck on an HD monitor on HDMI. A life lesson learned here.

It worked! for KVM switches

We had to try three IO Gear KVM switches to finally find one that could control switching between PCs with DisplayPort connectors and other PCs with VGA connectors. Finally we did it and it works. IO Gear's compatibility guidelines should be more clearly stated.

  • Only positive
Cons
  • Nothing here

Ignore the reviews - multiple products are under the same listing!

IOGEAR GCS1904 4-Port 4K UHD DisplayPort KVMP Switch with USB 3.0 Hub (TAA Compliant) I was struggling to decide on a KVM. so many options but most of them were considered very poorly. Everyone complains about losing handshakes (HDCP is buggy initially) and nothing works. I have an eGPU that serves as a TB3 dock for my Thinkpad and a standard Dell dock for my Dell. I had to work regularly on other computers and even on the docking station for my Samsung phone (which was free). I *HATE* plugging

Only works at the most basic level, has BIG flaws

So yes I can connect 4 devices to this KVM and use my 4K monitor via DP. However, I've encountered the following issues, which make KVM almost useless to me: - Display emulation is not available, which means the monitor is redefined AFTER EVERY SWITCH, which takes about 10 seconds per lap. It also causes the screen layout to be lost on computers that use a KVM monitor as a second display (e.g. Windows mode "Extend to desktop"). The maximum supported 4K resolution is unstable when using the…

Still no video after replacement

This item just didn't work for me: I couldn't get a video. I spoke to tech support who advised me to send the device in for a replacement but the replacement also failed. My monitor is an HP ZR2740w, it's not a cheap unit or a foreign brand, and it supports DisplayPort at native resolution (2560 x 1440) quite well, consistent with the advertised range of this switch. This is very disappointing as I have been a fan of iogear kvms since 2009 when I bought a Miniview VGA switch (GCS634U). I…
