Review on IOGEAR 4 Port DisplayPort GCS1904 Compliant by Dwight Tim

Only works at the most basic level, has BIG flaws

So yes I can connect 4 devices to this KVM and use my 4K monitor via DP. However, I've encountered the following issues, which make KVM almost useless to me: - Display emulation is not available, which means the monitor is redefined AFTER EVERY SWITCH, which takes about 10 seconds per lap. It also causes the screen layout to be lost on computers that use a KVM monitor as a second display (e.g. Windows mode "Extend to desktop"). The maximum supported 4K resolution is unstable when using the included or higher quality cables. I did my best. Now and then the screen will flicker (especially after difficult scenes) and go blank for 5-10 seconds. This doesn't happen when I connect the original device directly to the monitor using the same cables, which means it's not a problem caused by the cables, the computer, or the monitor. This proves that the KVM has signal quality problems. As a result, I'm forced to lower the resolution to 2560x1440. Unacceptable after paying $270 while the product specs clearly show this feature. KVM was unable to detect my Microsoft Wireless Ergo keyboard when connected to the KB port on the back panel. I had to plug the receiver into the front port, which in turn means the keyboard is also redefined (beep-boop!) every time I switch to a different computer. Very upset after paying $270, this is a very common knowledge base and should work according to the product specs. Bottom line, this KVM isn't built for toggling. It can only be used if your workflow involves a computer that is active for hours and you don't have to switch every 15-20 minutes like I need to.

  • Good
Cons
  • Good but not great
