Okay, a tool brought down by a magnet

I wish the magnet was stronger. A weak magnet is just why we fiddled with the cable for hours, carefully trying to persuade the magnet to try and hold it in place. very frustrating.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • A little variety

The tool did the job perfectly

I had to route an internal cable and tried it first without the tool. Very upset not to use it, unwound the gear wire and after 5 minutes everything was ready. A must-have for the toolbox if you have internal routing on your bikes.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Only available in black

Nice tool and great idea, but the tool won't.

Nice tool and great idea, but this tool doesn't fit my bike because the cable holes are too small. Make sure your bike has a large cable routing hole. This may not work on bikes with tubes like my Focus Cayo.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Check the wire magnet before use

My wire magnet became disconnected (not enough glue) so a drop of CA solved the problem. The tool works as advertised, but some technique is required to pull the cable through the frame. The first time took longer than it should, but I suspect it will be faster next time. Finally, it is recommended to ensure that the wire magnet is properly attached before use. Otherwise you may lose it in the frame.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Broke on the first try!

Used this tool to run the shifter cable housing through my Yeti's frame that doesn't have molded guide tubes. At first the tool worked even though the magnets were weak. offers hardly any cabling through the frame. At some point the instrument broke; a piece of wire with a magnet broke off the tip attached to the cable body. Luckily I managed to get the magnet out of the frame so it didn't get stuck there. Examination of the broken tool showed that a piece of wire with a magnet was only glued…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not bad

Without a doubt, this tool has what could easily have turned long and frustrating hours of fishing line into less than an hour of focused and quite enjoyable work. Works exactly as described by threading an easy to attach cable lug through the inside of the frame with powerful magnets. Well made and designed. The only problem was that the cable mounts were a few spots too big to fit through the holes in the frame. Perhaps future models will have smaller diameter wires. Luckily, I was able to…

Not bad, but there is room for improvement.

This works and saves time for internally routed cables. The magnet was quite strong and the cable connectors were nice and solid. My complaint is that the space for cable connectors and magnet wire was not thought through. Not much space to stuff a small cable magnet + 2 plugs into the storage space. You have to enter them there. When opening, the wire acts like a spring (because it has to bend). I found the wire + 2 plugs fell out of the storage area. Also, the flexible tip magnet, which is…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Needs improvement when cycling

I bought these after having had good experiences with Jagwire kits and was reluctant to pay double the price for the Park Tools version. Pros: - Two magnets (reach and on handle) - Pen-style handle with built-in storage for cable adapters. Cons: - The stretchable magnet is weak and will drop the cable - Adapters don't hold the cable well and will come loose if pulled - The reach magnet is weak and won't hold if the cable encounters friction (it was decided to use a frequent one use needle nose…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • The list will be long.
