💄 Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit: Complete Look with Mineral Foundation, Blush, Eye Shadow, and Lip & Cheek Stain Review

This is a really great set that has become my everyday in a makeup. I don't usually like powder/mineral makeup, but it works well on mature skin. I usually have a medium tan but based on the reviews I went for a darker tan and the colors are perfect. My only complaint is that the cardboard sleeve is bulky and doesn't close securely, which isn't ideal for travel, but I like that it's eventually recyclable.

I'm in my 50's and going through the menopause, so I have problems with dry and uneven skin. Also, the colors I used to like started looking clownesque because I lost the brightness and tone, except for the brown spots. Trying JI products for the first time. This is a great way to try 2 complementary foundations, a matching blush, 2 eye shadows and a lip gloss. Watch/read how to apply this powder foundation, it doesn't apply like other powder foundations unless you load the brush and apply in a buffing motion. Love the concealer and blush for a makeover on the go. On a flight or trip, I can take it with me, put it in my bag and take it with me without all the cosmetics I have at home. Very easy handling speaks for itself.

I'm fair just a few tones darker than china. I use BB5 in Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream. Not needing peach lipstick, I ordered medium and I'm glad I did. As light as these colors are, I doubt a bright or light medium light would even show up on my face, and the foundation shades would definitely be too light. Sample product. Nothing outstanding. The middle light is too bright for me, although different shades were provided for selection. The middle light looked dimmer. This brand was known for covering problem areas of the skin, but not for me. The sun damage is still visible and I don't think a darker shade would have helped. The lipstick is an orange natural lipstick that we used the day before the regular colored lipstick. Not suitable for aging (pale) lips. Nice little blush brush.

I used a mineral base over a light moisturizer and hydrating base tape primer. This is definitely a medium opacity sheer product, it takes more coats to get a medium opacity than I want to play around with. I used my own brushes. I applied additional product to areas that needed more coverage without looking blotchy.
