It was calculated at 550 degrees or so. But .

This was calculated to be approximately 550 degrees. But he started smoking around 400 and he stank all over the house. I did a controlled experiment outside and found that the temperature of the smoke was much lower than the rated temperature. :-(

Works great in temperatures up to 500 degrees

I use this to grease wheels on a powder coated oven stand. Works great in temperatures up to 500 degrees. I have to reapply every few weeks as it dries out completely after prolonged use at 500 degrees or more.

Not for oven use.

This fat is rated for up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit, but most ovens exceed this temperature when preheating and toasting. At high temperatures, this fat gives off a horrible odor and becomes thick and black. It is extremely difficult to remove after it has thickened and discolored when exposed to heat.
