The Crankshaft Saver fills in the problematic 14mm air gap at the end of the Miata's crankshaft. This air gap of over 1/2 inch in length is the source of many problems that ultimately result in catastrophic crankshaft failure. Ideal for spare parts

Works really amazing. I wanted to do it myself, but didn't find the time. It worked great on my 1996 1.8 liter Miata. I will definitely buy it again if I get another Miata. It fitted perfectly and took away the hesitation I had before. It was a great relief.

Requires modification to work with ATI dampers

I like the build quality. but the spacer is too long to work properly with the ATI damper (the damper is not pinched by the shoulder but sits on the nose of the grip). I removed .100" and it works great now.

Quality control leaves a lot to be desired

I don't know about quality control on these things but I had to file down the wooden key space to get the right key which is annoying considering the price. The attached picture shows a Mazda OEM wooden key (which will not fit) but the key provided will fit.

6L Short handle and it fits.

Given that we have an area of 15,000 m². Feet, I was quite skeptical about this product. The 1991 Miata crank arm had a very small damage at the end of the guide key and we considered cutting off the second key. set to. Rest assured it will last. Incidentally, it was a 1991 short-nose 1.6-liter connecting rod, and it fitted perfectly.

An ingenious solution to a common Miat problem.

Perfect fit for my 99 Miata. I bought with an issue the seller wasn't sure about. After working at Mazda for 3 years, I saw that this problem is common at Miata. Was surprised to see that someone actually had a solution other than replacing the key or worse the crankshaft. Works as intended and described. Installation was easy and everything is clear. The machine works great and now I'm really having fun and enjoying every day. I have already recommended this solution to several others!

You need it - Crankshafts

Thank you thank you thank you for returning it. The pulley rocked on my '93 Miata about a year ago and I wish I had one. It needed a new pulley and wedge (it broke off and I had to cut, grind and take it out with minimal damage) and a crank, but I was able to salvage it. I have searched long and far for this help but to no avail. As good as the Mazda motors are, I don't know what they were thinking when they left a 1/2 inch gap in the nose between the crank and the pulley bolt. Long story short

If you have a Miata, buy now!

I was having a bit of wobble on my '99 Miata grip so I bought this in hopes it would help and to avoid using the 'thread locking' method. I replaced the crank gear, wooden key, crank pin and harmonic damper while disassembling everything and I recommend doing the same. I was able to easily pull the wooden dowel out with a pair of pliers and immediately noticed that not only was it warped but it was so cracked I was surprised it hadn't been cut off sooner. because now the machine works much…
