then it's too bad and can cause shortness of breath

Although it's called bathing sand, it's just chinchilla dust. If you want to buy sand for bathing small rodents such as hamsters, dwarf hamsters, gerbils etc. then it is too fine for them and can cause respiratory arrest. However, this suggests that I did not read the description more carefully. Finally, it's great for chinchillas.

That's a good value. but best for chinchillas, not small rodents!

my dwarf hamster loves it. She was very happy with it and it was fun to watch her ride. The packages lasted a long time for me. The only thing is that it is not sand. More like pulverized dust. I wouldn't recommend this for everyday use as it can cause breathing issues, but it should be fine every now and then. If you want something for everyday use, I recommend children's play sand.

1st time sand, 2nd time dust (marked as sand)

When I first ordered this product it was as described - sand. Dusty, yes, but still a very gritty product. My hamster liked it so I ordered a second time. When I ordered the product for the second time, I received dust. The box and pouches were labeled "Chinchilla Bath Sand." I didn't check it thoroughly before pouring it in my hamster's bath and when it rolled and popped out it was a very dusty boy! (See photos - this is a brown Djungarian hamster.)

Very dusty sand bath

This product is not at all as advertised. It is labeled as a sand bath but it turned out to be very dusty. My hamster liked it at first and settled into the sand bath right away, but after a day of use he started sneezing heavily. I wasn't sure if it was the sand bath until I took it all the way out and he immediately stopped sneezing. Please try to avoid receiving this product. I know some boxes might not be that dusty, but it's not worth risking your pet's life. I have now switched to baby…

Terrible for hamsters

My cheerio hamster HATES this product. The sand stuck to her fur and she kept trying to pull it out, panicking and crying and squealing in pain. So I picked her up and used her toothbrush to brush away the dirt in her fur and it came off so slowly. Then I puffed lightly to take it off. Eventually it came loose, but I recommend the children's play sand from your local hardware store. Once cooked it should be great as long as it isn't cooked in the oven on a baking sheet at 350 degrees to…

It was cool. Currently, . nearly.

One reviewer stated that the Super Pet changed the sand. I agree. The texture is definitely different from the touch. It's denser, heavier and strangely wet to the touch. And well, my hamsters don't care. I buy sand for them for two purposes: bathing and digging. Since I can't get her to bathe in it I figured I could make it diggable. So I added (ONLY ONE POWDER) ground walnut shells. I can barely feel the grenades that have landed, but they break the weight of the sand so much my hamsters are…

A safe gerbil at a good price.

Revain is the only place I could find this for a good price. I got this because I was told that the "dust" form of chinchilla is not recommended for gerbils. And my gerbils LOVE it. I have not noticed any sneezing or eye problems as a result of use. They even eat it, which is part of the design. It is a "volcanic rock mineral with low dust content". But I've found that it can be dusty, like regular chinchilla dust, but it does contain a significant amount of larger particles. There were 5…
