This device uses a triac to control the speed of certain types of motors. The manufacturer's specification lists shaded pole motors, permanently separated capacitors, and general purpose motors (AC and DC). This is true for most small air moving systems. As it is rated for a maximum current of 2.5A you should also ensure that your motor's maximum current draw does not exceed 2.5A at 125VAC. Fantastic electrical product

UPDATE 0 The first one only lasted two hours when I adjusted the set screw it just hissed. The 2nd adjustment with a screw works fine but now my engine hums a bit, not bad but I can hear it. The first was absolutely silent until the hiss of the adjustment, but I still recommend these. Well, no matter how good a product is, it's bound to have some flaws. Quality construction, simple design, easy to use and adjust

This review is for the KBWC-13K Solid State Speed Controller. I bought this controller with the intention of modifying it so that my Magic Heat unit's fan runs slower and is less noisy when the wood stove fire is producing less heat.
