This goal is made of very poor quality materials and is very fragile. If you try to push the top bracket against the wall, the frame just flexes and never snaps properly. When the gate is closed it holds, but when open it is very prone to falling. The gates don't stay open either, they close themselves which is very frustrating. Good product and relatively easy to install at the bottom and top of the stairs. I know the manufacturer warns against using the gate at the top of the stairs, but the overall design and installation really isn't any different from other brands of pressure plumbing that suggest the pressure pad cups need to be installed on the walls in order to to be used on the stairs. . We adopted an elderly dog with some behavioral issues and wanted to make sure he wasn't wandering around the house when we were away. I didn't want anything permanent so we went with a pressurized swing gate and Kidco mostly lived up to expectations. Overall quality is generally good. The product is made from white powder coated steel and appears to be quite durable. The only real quality issue I see is that the locking mechanism is mostly plastic and it seems like it will fail first over time.

I can only recommend this gate! We use it at the base of our basement stairs and it's just what we need. Installation wasn't difficult at all.
