This lamp was purchased to replace a broken swing arm lamp. Wall mounting uses a mounting plate designed to be used with a ceiling mounted junction box. To use it you would have to drill three holes in the wall (mine is a wooden post). I designed an entire wall around these damn lamps, drilled holes in the walls for anchors, and was even late to pick up my son from karate class trying to install them. So the installation really wasn't too difficult. Remove the back plate, screw it to the wall, fix the lamp cover.
