Just right. They seem to have solved the tight rocking by adding some lube that you have to "work" with (just swing your hand back and forth a few times). Good price for a good set. Not outrageous quality, but at $45 each, how can you go wrong here. I would advise others to place it closer to the edge of the bed (if using it as a bedside reading lamp) rather than trying to reach the middle of the bed with your hands as that will do. bright. (ie: it has been said that by the time you get to 60 you need about 100 watts to read and those 3 choices are 50/100/150 so you can read forever lol). FYI, the wire covers do NOT reach the floor, so while it works great behind a bed (or behind a chair, I suppose), it won't work unless you hide the underside of the wire behind furniture. . So check your measurements.
