New valve for old taps.

I have a Kohler shower faucet with old style compression valves. These 1/4 turn replacements are perfect and the ceramic seat upgrade should last a very long time.

  • Pleasant
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

These redesigned valves are great

I've struggled with the plastic sleeve valves they've been replacing for years. Every 2-3 years the plastic covering wears out and they start to leak or fail completely. These new ceramic valves are a definite improvement. It feels like a brand new faucet, when you tighten them there is no "compliance" and you can't over tighten them. I would recommend replacing your plastic bushings with these even if they haven't failed yet.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Nothing here

Fantastic improvement

This is fantastic for a number of reasons. Firstly, I managed to find a replacement part for a lamp that was around 40 years old from the manufacturer! and the 2nd cartridge has the same fit and function as the old valve but the internals have been upgraded to a modern ceramic disc mechanism that should last a very long time. Bravo to Kohler for truly IMPROVING a replacement part for a discontinued faucet. I am very happy. PLUS it solved a subtle plumbing problem I had at home.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Good but not great

Hot stem for cold side?

If you have ROUND (or crossed or square) handles you need a HOT valve stem for both the hot and cold sides. Hot Rod part number GP330002. Counterclockwise on, clockwise off for hot and cold. Same stem for both sides. If you have LEVER grips, the cold side will require cold stem part number GP330004. This rotates the direction opposite to the hot one. So if you pull both handles towards you you turn the water on and if you squeeze both handles you turn it off. For reference, the hot stem is the…

  • Nice packaging

  • Alright

Way to Go KOHLER - Faucet Valves

I lost quite a long answer because my thumbs hit the wrong button. There was a lot to say, but I'll be brief. After buying old non-ceramic replacement valves, they started leaking within a few days. It would be troublesome and very expensive for me to break through the wall in the shower. Although I've been a carpenter most of my workday - what we have has defied the best and cost $$$$. KOHLER GP330002 Ceramic Valves - 1/4 Turn Smooth! And I wanted to thank KOHLER for finding this solution to a
