Has a very long stem and shows the temperature in a few seconds. Easy to read. Oh, the attachment you attach to the side of the pot doesn't move, so make sure you have a deep pot.

The clip provided is very easy to use and versatile. I could clip it to any pot I have and it's strong enough that I could use it when I needed to get creative with the clamp (e.g. trimming on a grill or smoker). Overall a great article and appears to be accurate.

Completely inaccurate! More than 100 degrees (low) of the actual temperature. The fat almost caught fire because the oil started to smoke and the thermometer showed only 285 degrees. I measured the oil after removing it from the burner with a digital thermometer and it read 415 degrees. I bought this to use in a cast iron deep fryer but it's useless for this application!

I used to rely on a short-handled candy thermometer for frying. This resulted in burnt food, undercooked mids, and a generally nasty mess. The long handle and accurate, quick reading allow me to leave this thing in the oil while cooking without holding it there, allowing me to adjust the temperature on the fly. My onion rings and pies turn out crispy on the outside, juicy and cooked through on the inside.

My thermometer arrived 5 degrees (C) less accurate. It was annoying, but at least there's a calibration nut so I was able to fix it quickly. Just wanted to test before I make hard caramel. The rest of the thermometer is fine. The length is ideal for a deep pot. When making candy, I like that the temperature is at the top of the pot instead of the bottom (like other candy thermometers). Celsius markings are easy to read, Fahrenheit not so much.

Can't tell if this is a quality product or not. It was well packaged so I doubt it was damaged in transit but it arrived with a thermometer needle broken off the dial in the thermometer bezel. I can only assume it's cheaply made and now that I've read other reviews about the poor quality of the clip and other parts I'm convinced this isn't a quality product. Bought this thermometer to check the temperature of cooking oil before frying. The attached clip is not strong enough to prevent the thermometer from accidentally slipping. Once you've installed it, a small touch or bump may fall, and you'll need to reattach the clip to the side of the pot. More annoying than anything. I threw it away after 3 uses. It's crazy how many reviews are blamed on a "useless clip" and that's why they give this product a negative review. Of course, it may not work for your pot/fryer. But folks, you can easily reconfigure the flexible metal in this clamp to suit your needs with a range of pliers. It took me about 2 minutes to adjust to get the thermometer to sit the way I wanted and I'm just feeling a little comfortable.
