It works, but oh well. I'm grumpy now.

In the end I used. However, no instructions were included, not that it matters. Taking it apart to tie it to the string was agony in the back of a nightmare. 2 flat head screwdrivers, pliers, lots of obscenities. If it were two separate parts and not all finished it would be a lot easier. Putting it back together after attaching the cord is just as difficult. Nothing to relieve the tension on the wire/anything to hold the wire, so I tied a knot in the wire to hold it in the connector. Never…

If you fancy hand piercing a screwdriver then this connector is for you. to open the connector, unless two screwdrivers can be held in the lever position while pulling out the connector with pliers while holding the connector housing. Three to four hands are required. 1 MONTH LATER: I actually had to use this fork by heating it with a hair dryer which allowed me to remove the shell from the fork. I'm not an electrical engineer, but I'm almost 69 and have changed a lot of plugs. I have found this to be the easiest to install and safest and now the low voltage bulb used in the old house outperforms most others. It was extremely easy to pry open with a single screwdriver, the contact screws were exposed easily enough to attach the stripped wires very securely and attach them very tightly.
