Buy protractor

Simply the best on the market. laser engraving. Consistently made of solid aluminum and absolutely perfect fit. An update to two previous versions of Starrett. I've never heard of this company, but they are made in the USA. Also has a limited warranty and an engraved serial number. Very cool. Also included in the box is a guide that includes a corona chart (similar to Joe Fusco's chart in This Is Carpentry) when cutting on a flat surface, which is a nice touch. This product was clearly created…

Pros
  • FORGET THE GUESSING - Two scales transmit your working angle directly to the miter saw for precise miter cuts and single cuts.
Cons
  • Can't remember

You need good eyesight to see angles.

So this is a very useful tool. One complaint is that it doesn't tell you what angle you're looking at. This is not a "goniometer". Once you get used to it, it will help you make the right miter cuts when dealing with stairwells, sheathing and paneling, but you still have to guess the exact bevels because the jig is so small you won't can tell if they are pointing at 45.5* or 45.7* and an offset of 1/2* (1/4* x two parts) is enough to leave a gap. It would be an even more useful tool if they put

Pros
  • CONSTRUCTION - Internal Teflon O-ring mechanism rotates during operation for a smooth and accurate reading of inside and outside corners.
Cons
  • Out of fashion

A pleasure to use - test, measure and verify

This aluminum tool has replaced the plastic version, which my dog mistook for a chew toy. This is NOT a problem with a metal tool. Except for the color and material, it is virtually identical to the plastic version of the Starrett. I found the black and white format to be more readable. The swivel is better quite rigid. It maintains the measured angle perfectly (unless it is accidentally hit or dropped). When compared to a digital protractor, the measurements were identical.A handyman friend…

  • 100% RISK FREE - 1/4" thick aluminum alloy is stronger and won't bend like plastic | For your peace of mind, our limited lifetime warranty is included!
