Original spare parts!: Building materials

I used this set to repair my neighbor's electric garage door drive. She wanted to buy a brand new knife but I told her to wait until I had a look. I have already seen and solved this problem. Of course, the big plastic gear was torn off, so I ordered this kit. The package arrived quickly with Prime and I was happy to see genuine OEM parts and "Made in USA" on the sticker. They are? Who knows. Anyway, the kit also comes with a set of washers and bushings, which was a big plus for me as the…

The product is good It was necessary to buy an assembly

Not just turning nuts and bolts. It requires some mechanical skill. The product is good. Nothing but a large amount of equipment was needed. To remove the old gear I need a punch to knock out the pressed pin. To slide in the new spring pin I used a metal vise and some blocks of wood. If you don't understand this level, buy a pre-assembled assembly, where the gearbox is mounted on a new axle with all the bearings. Then it's a drop. I should have done that and saved a few bucks more time. I see…

The right and simple solution!

As other reviewers note, the round flat gear tends to fail most often in the opener. This repair kit contains parts for different model types, so you probably won't need them all. But my personal suggestion is that as long as you have the device, why not replace as many of the parts in your opener (especially if you're mechanically inclined) that are duplicated in the kit. This will further extend the life of your opener. This applies in particular to the worm gear. While it doesn't usually…

Great DIY kit, make sure you know the part numbers you need

This kit was just what I needed when the worm drive was chewing up my old gear. It even comes with a pretty good guide on how to disassemble the old parts, install the new ones, and adjust the door. If that doesn't help, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will help you. You can do this repair yourself inexpensively, it took a few hours or so. The hardest part is removing the motor and reinstalling it without help, and removing and reinstalling the pins that hold the gears. I knocked the

Great parts, quite a challenge

Great for my 1995 Chamberlain. Works great now! Watching a YouTube video on how to do this is highly recommended as the included instructions are printed on a small piece of paper at a relatively low resolution. This is a very doable project for the average DIYer. It's not easy, but it can be done. Here are a few tips and a few places I got stuck: - Take a picture of the wiring configurations - Don't fiddle with the travel/force settings and don't disconnect the back panel where all the…

Patience and shared hand tools can save you hundreds of dollars.

We had two old (early 2000's) 1/2 HP Craftsman openers in our house. About six months after we moved in, a door opener stopped working. The motor ran but the door didn't move. I assumed it was a typical Chamberlain/LiftMaster/Craftsman nylon gear box failure and when I opened the unit up, a mountain of white nylon shavings confirmed my suspicions. As most other reviewers have pointed out, it's not the easiest job in the world, but it's not brain surgery either. With a little patience and a few…
