You can Install These Without the Tool

I need some 1/2 T-Nuts. Can't find them at the local big box stores or on amazon, so it was going to be pretty pricy to get them from a specialty hardware mail order store. I used these instead, installing them in some 1/8 thick scrap metal plate, then I mounted the plate with four screws in the corners. You can see other reviews that explain how to expand these with some nuts, washers and wrenches, versus buying the tool.

works with all my inserting tools, universal

The steal that these are made of is hard and thick enough to withstand tack welding once they have been installed without deforming the internal threads. Some I have used in the past would melt if I had tack welded them. These are made with high quality material.

They work. good for me

They installed easy. Case is nice. I pulled out the threads on one pretty easy. Not meant for much torque at all. Do not use a driver to install screws. Use hand tools only.

Very easy to use, I used this item to install wallpack lights on a metal bldg.The installation was made easy using the rivet nut!

The only reason I didn't give five stars across the board is that it took a 17 mm drill bit that is very difficult to find. Other than that the product is fantastic!

DO TEST JOINTS; Specs aren't reliable.

Sounds like a lot of these reviews are by people who have just learned what a rivnut is.I can appreciate their enthusiasm but if you're using these for an important joint, it may be better to stick with more reputable suppliers.I bought 2x 100 1/4-20 rivnuts. Spec says grip range is 0.040 - 0.140" and pilot hole diameter 0.356",First of all, I don't know what drill 0.356" is supposed to be.that does not appear on my drill chart. But it's a hair bigger than 11/32 so I drilled pilot holes at that

Work as expected but packaging is not great

The container was not organized at all. It would be nice if they were separated by size and labeled. You basically have to guess and test the nut on a bolt.The nuts themselves are good quality, work great and the knurled section grips sheet metal really well.

You can use them without the tool

I used these to assemble a workout rack in 1/8 in steel tubing. They worked really well and I could actually get them to insert with a bolt and nut vs using the expensive tool. I used the 1/2 - 13.

  • I broke some screws and used these fitters. I added a little JB WELD and it worked.👍🏻

a lot for the money

These are perfect for converting sheet metal screws in thin metal to machine screws for more stability. Used them to better hold my outside mirrors on my vintage car.

Worked good with a little trick

I purchased the 1/2"-13 which require a 0.631" hole. Closest fractional I could come up with was a 5/8" bit. I also did not have a special tool to install. I used these to attach a trailer sway control link to trailer frame. I drilled the holes, placed the bracket over top and tightly clamped the bracket to the frame to pinch the rivet nuts. Then used an impact gun and it sucked up and set the rivets with no issues. Very happy with them and it's the right way to attach items to thin frame…
