I track the life of the brushes on all popular tools so I know when they need to be replaced. These Makita brushes were supposed to last around 60 hours, but they were completely worn out after only 5 hours. I expected that from a cheap China brush, but not from Makita. If you only use them occasionally, they may be fine.

Not quite sure what to say about the stock motor brush. . . but these were perfect. They fit snugly, worked great, and actually have a slightly beveled edge to make the starting point smaller (so they make better contact and wear out quicker). If it were absolutely flat, it would touch a much smaller area.

If your Makita tool needs a Makita CB154 carbon brush, get a genuine Makita CB154 carbon brush, not a working one. I have a couple of Makita power tools ± 20 years old and none of them have used even half the original carbon brushes they came with. Of course, I'm just a weekend handyman, not a professional working with my tools on a daily basis. But still, the fact that the same amount of material remains in the original Makita brushes is very impressive.

I was looking for a part number to replace Makita miter saw bushings. I searched the internet for a while and found two numbers in an online manual. Both are no longer valid. It turns out that Makita renumbered all of their parts. I know this because I called them with the part numbers I had. The reason there were two numbers is because the LS1013 had different models. I have the original LS1013. I believe one of the other models was LS1013-F.
