It's a bit pricey but worth it. I like the super bright "room" option, the forward lighting option, and the low power lighting option. This light has proven very useful for checking the oil level under the hood, pumping up tires in the dark, and is nice to have around the house as a handy emergency light (I've charged several Makita batteries for various tools, which many hours allow light in case of emergency) .

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Don't worry about the DML185 flashlight or offline USB charger.

Makita's most versatile flashlight. It charges your phone, acts as a flashlight, shop light and flashlight. I can confirm that Makita's claim of 11 hours in flashlight mode with a 5Ah battery is true. Each case is slightly different, but I recorded around 11 hours and 8 minutes on one of my batteries and 10 hours and 55 minutes on the other. In my opinion the only other light source worth buying is an LED job light if you need a strong, directional beam of light. 100% recommended.

Came with an already broken switch

Thought these were individual complaints and mine would do - no! A $60 flashlight uses an inferior switch than a flashlight you would buy at a dollar store. The click switches on my free HF flashlights are more durable! There have been complaints about the switches on these headlights on American and Japanese Revains for years, and Makita still hasn't bothered to include a better quality switch. Mine stopped working as the name suggests and broke shortly after some use for many reviewers. Do…

If you have bats, take the easy

We live in Pumaland and we go out at night so here's what. I keep it by the door. Years ago I turned to Makita for almost all of their battery powered tools, so I usually have at least 8 of their batteries and it made sense to add that. If I were a DeWalt guy I would look for their version. Works great, very bright like a globe or semi bright in a semi circle or soft beam as needed. I have no idea how long it can last on a single 18 volt battery, but I believe it can last all night. Great work…

Very bright light - great functionality - high quality

Being married to a Makita 18v system I was looking for a local flashlight to use with my many batteries. I chose this model and have no regrets. That's exactly what I expected. My wife and I recently attempted to finish the wiring below deck and install some exterior lighting. We ran out of daylight and relied on that light to get the job done. The built in hanger was perfect. We could hang it in different places as we moved about our work. I would say it's really overpriced. But Makita seems…

Excellent light with occasional irritation

Excellent light. Or headlights, depending. 610 lumen 360 degree LED flux, 300 lumen 180 degree flux and 150 lumen flashlight (compared to 90 lumen DML806). Compared to the DML185 xenon flashlight, this thing is amazing. As I crawled through the attic, I had to be careful about placing the Xenon in case it would fall into the cellulose insulation and leave me in the dark. With 360-degree LED lighting, this problem does not exist. I feel like it's not as durable as the xenon, although the white…
