Review on πŸ”¦ Makita DML807 LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless LED Lantern/Flashlight, 18V by Clinton Youmans

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent light with occasional irritation

Excellent light. Or headlights, depending. 610 lumen 360 degree LED flux, 300 lumen 180 degree flux and 150 lumen flashlight (compared to 90 lumen DML806). Compared to the DML185 xenon flashlight, this thing is amazing. As I crawled through the attic, I had to be careful about placing the Xenon in case it would fall into the cellulose insulation and leave me in the dark. With 360-degree LED lighting, this problem does not exist. I feel like it's not as durable as the xenon, although the white tube doesn't make me think it takes a lot of hits, so I'm a bit more cautious with that. In addition, compared to the DML806, it has a USB port for charging devices. That made it very comfortable on my recent road trip. Another change from the DML806 is the button. Pressing the button cycles through the three modes. From off to flood 360, to flood 180, to flashlight, to off. The problem with the button is its sensitivity - when one of the lighting modes is on, the lightest press falls on the button (enough to depress it a bit, but not enough to make it click to move to the next setting ) in complete darkness . By releasing the pressure on the switch, the light can be turned on again (in the same mode). This only happens to me occasionally, but often enough to give one star. It seems to only happen in certain wearing positions and could be fixed with better button positioning. Overall I am very satisfied with this lamp and would recommend it.
