Excellent jacket for jackets and coats

I searched long and hard before purchasing and it was impossible to find another well made 700 fill down jacket from a well known brand within $75 of its price. me. I wore it with just the wool mid-layer on 5 mile walks during the polar vortex and 2 Michigan bombing hurricanes and stayed comfortably warm. It was the best clothes purchase I've had in years.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • poorly designed

Not as warm as it looks

I bought this because it was the warmest option on some review sites. I used it for 2 weeks in -10 to -30 degree weather. However, the jacket wasn't as warm as expected and the arm area was a big cold spot. the padding used in this jacket wasn't as "fluffy". Like what my comrades wore, it achieved noticeably less expansion than what appeared to be a jacket on the north side of the Thunder II.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • New competitors are here

Don't believe the pictures

I received this jacket and was very disappointed. I was looking for a heavy down jacket that I can wear occasionally on the -30 degree days in Gunnison, Colorado. It is nothing more than a shell layer. In the photos it looks big and plump like the coats I've bought at Mountain Hardware and North Face in the past. I would recommend buying these brands because I don't know where the 700 padding went but it doesn't seem to have gone into the jacket.

Edged weapons.: Jackets & Coats

I wanted to love this jacket. And it has some great moments. Nice double YKK zipper. Good hydrophobic down, good fit. warm core. But the difference in isolation between the arms and the upper body is terrible. My back and chest are sweating to the point where I have to open my jacket as the cold and wind pierce my arms. marmot, what gives? How could you screw up your sleeve padding so badly? I can't wear a jacket when the temperature is above 30 degrees, and it feels like I'm only wearing a…

Warm and comfortable

I live in incredibly cold Chicago and already own several winter down jackets including North Face, Triple Fat Goose [my favorite so far] and Mark Jones. I still wasn't completely happy with them. I bought this coat and it arrived yesterday. I don't want to take it off. It is very warm yet soft and light. Pockets and hood lined with down. I don't even need a hat because the hood is so warm. I still don't like the Chicago winter, but this coat will help me a lot!

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • There are more interesting options.

Fantastic jacket suitable for men

Absolutely great jacket! Comfortable and super warm! I read some reviews that said the jacket was thin and not puffy. My jacket arrived and it was a bit crumpled in the mailer. This can easily be remedied by loosening it up with tennis balls or dryer balls in the dryer at a low temperature. I immediately washed the jacket with Nikwax Down Direct and then with Nikwax Down Proof (fantastic products). I called Marmot and they recommended these products. After that I couldn't believe how the jacket

I love this really warm down jacket

I love this down jacket. Super warm, much warmer than your regular puffs. Nice hood, fits well. Velcro wrists are a must for me and they work great. Well fastened with a zipper. So far the quality has been excellent and the fit is perfect for me. I usually wear this under my sink as I'm in a rainy environment and this jacket fits perfectly under my sink despite being more puffy than your average puffy. Love the lined pockets and the fact that the laces tuck into the pockets instead of hanging…

Simple but very functional

being light because of the heat. Suitable for a large baffle jacket (go down a size if you're like me and find that down works best when fitted close to the body and not as effective when layered in between). had no trouble getting into the small size. I'm cold and I've found that lighter jackets with smaller baffles just don't work for me in terms of overall warmth - yes, they're stylish, just not as warm unless you're constantly on the move. Reversible handwarmer pockets lined with Driclime…
