Without glitter: Goods for painting, painting

Terrible colour. Transparent with no visible glitter. It just looks dirty and unkempt. Doesn't give much cover. Very disappointed. Sticking to art deco and apple barrel brands.

Pros
  • Always welcome
Cons
  • No finish

Happy to add shine

Although the description says it is white it is almost transparent with sparkles. I've used it on a few things after dying them the right color; I use this overdyed color to add shine and sparkle. You can add more layers for more glitter effect. I like to add a special effect to special items. It's easy.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Blank

Get a color very similar to your base color and WOW!

This is not for painting things that are gold or bright silver and look like mottled dirt on cream or white. You'll have to get up close to see how it shines when layered over bright, bold colors, because from a distance it looks slightly like a scratch on the surface. But when you apply this to a piece of pewter or really antique silver or paint of a similar shade, it's AMAZING. I can't stop looking at the magical transformation it offers to the glitter paint covering it. (Apparently I bought…

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

NOT TRANSPARENT! - Paints

Definitely nice as a COATING over an opaque paint. I will use these to add a gloss finish and then apply a coat of high gloss varnish as a final top coat. These are not at all like the photo. I am considering returning them but will use them as I have described. The collection has several unique colors like dark red, aqua and even black. Hard to find at local craft/hobby stores.

Pros
  • Self-priming for use on porous and non-porous surfaces
Cons
  • I will add later

Great paint for painting

Other reviewers were right about the consistency of the glitter to clear paint ratio. I'm a happy buyer because this color was exactly what I expected after reading other reviews. I didn't want my project to have an opaque layer of glitter so this worked perfectly. If you want an opaque coat of gold paint, I recommend purchasing Martha Stewart Gold Acrylic paint. I have one too and I like it.

Pros
  • UV and weather resistant - indoors and out
Cons
  • Expensive

some gilding

I bought this color for a set of green Christmas lights. I'll be using them with gold/white tinsel so I had to tone down the green. The gold color does not cover the green well. Lots of glitter, little gold. It's meant to be self-priming and used for a variety of purposes, including plastic. I use a foam brush and it applies several layers. I think I should have just used regular gold paint and added glitter where needed.

Pros
  • Martha's trusted palette features rich colors in 5 finishes: satin, luster, glitter, metallic and pearl
Cons
  • Something different
