Enhance Your Ford F150 F250 F350 F450 F550 (2005-2014) with Master Tailgaters Chrome Tailgate Handle and Backup Camera Review

Works as described, looks like the hardware has been upgraded, has the same mounting settings as the OEM grip. Was plug and play with Kenwood head unit. Zip ties were used and the camera wires were pulled up the frame after the main wiring harness, a taillight was used for power and ground.

There were some troubleshooting issues that had more to do with the vehicle than the product. Once this was worked out the camera worked and produced a very clear image. The only problem was that the ground wire that needed to be installed was about 14 gauge and probably should be 10-12 due to the larger gauge.

Fits like OEM. Came with metal bracket like OEM. My phone didn't focus on the camera image on the mirror, but it was very clear. My 99 F150 didn't have a hole in the underside of the tailgate for the wires to come out of, so I drilled a 7/8" hole and one on the edge of the truck bed to route the wires along the frame. Connected to the red and white wires on the back of my 7 pin trailer connector for power.

Easy to install, ground and connect to the display video. I gave the installation 4 stars just because it needs some drilling and wiring for the backup power cable, otherwise completely plug and play, great picture, perfect for my 2005 Ford F-350. If you plan to remove the tailgate for any reason, the downside is that you will have to disassemble the tailgate to unplug and remove the wiring. Installation took me about an hour.

Quality in fit and finish. I've seen other reviews saying there was a gap after installation and I had one at first. The instructions are vague but I noticed there was a gasket fitted to the handle and I started matching the old handle to the new and what I found was without the specified gasket it was exactly the same. So I just cut it off at the pins and it fits like the original and looks completely like it came from the factory.

The grip was very easy to fit and I had no issues with the fit or anything. The first one I got had an awful picture. In bright sunlight, the image was black and white and a little flawed. Got a replacement and tried again, replacement works great. I turned off the embedded lines overlaid on the image by cutting the wire and used the ones on my stereo as they adjust and work better for me. All said and done, I now have a working replacement and have it installed. for a while i'm glad i have it.

I installed this on a 2003 F150 Super Crew Short bed. The trunk handle with the camera came in very easily. The camera worked as it should. There was more than enough cable to run the truck the full length. The cable was additionally protected by black plastic. I have no guides and I connected the green wire so I am not sure if there is a setting that can be changed on my monitor or if this camera does not have guides. Delivered in 2 days.
