Perfect for my needs

Glad I didn't spend the extra bucks on a high volume pump. I used a factory compression spring which provides the pressure and volume I need.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

I have installed these oil pumps 5-6 times on the 5.3L and 6.0L. The 5.3 engine had valvetrain noise at idle, even though the hand gauge showed hot oil pressure of 20psi. Install one of these pumps and that noise will go away forever. The valve train has to starve for oil with the old pump. 2007+ requires a sump reset to swap them out, 2006 and below can do without, but it's no fun.

Pros
  • Relief valve comes with a screw in plug with optional lower stem spring
Cons
  • Not sure

2007 Tahoe Oil Pumps

Fits a 2007 Tahoe 5.3 Flex. There was an issue with a hard o-ring on the oil pump sensor causing low oil pressure for the first 10 minutes after a cold start. On my ramp the idle pressure dropped just above 0. Once the oil was good and hot the o-ring swelled enough and the oil pressure returned to normal. A very strange problem. 156,000 miles, by the way. Since I still had to remove the oil pan to replace the O-ring, I also removed the oil pump. Left in the high-pressure spring. Works…

Pros
  • Cast Iron Cap CNC machined and phosphate coated
Cons
  • Off Fashion

2010 Chevy Avalanche 5.3 Vortec 130,000 miles

The package included everything to install the oil pump. I had to buy an extra set of gaskets for the front cover and water pump. At the same time I installed a new water pump as I have 130,000 miles on this engine. I was on a car trip when the factory oil pump failed and the bypass valve stayed open. It came loose when I poured some Marvel Mystery Oil into the motor, but I replaced the pump anyway. I have included photos of what the factory pump gave me for psi and has had from day one. I've…
