I have been shaving with the popular Merkur 34c for a number of years. I didn't use moisturizer so it was very difficult to shave against the direction of hair growth. I did it anyway to get the cleanest + smoothest shave. I figured the increased exposure of the Futur blade would allow me to get much closer to the skin when shaving with a 6 grit setting. Good design and weight. I started shaving DE with the Merkur 34 but wanted to use a butterfly razor for convenience and settled on the Viking Blade Emperor. I liked the Emperor's weight, but after a few months of use, the coating in my hands started to peel off. Then I settled on a Parker metal pistol with a knurled grip.
