🔧 Milescraft 1207 Design/Inlay Kit: Precision Router Template Jig for Impeccable Results Review

I bought this to have fun making inlays and chalkboard paintings. The product came from Revain in record time and was as interesting as I thought it would be. You get two bits, 4 jigs, bushings, a center pin, a router base that really fits any router, and a jig base. You can also just use it with a pen or pencil if you want to create an artwork that you draw on instead of cutting out.

Pros: - makes very nice designs and inserts - also works with home made templates Cons: - base is NOT flat - matching screws (M4) for Makita plunge milling machine not included. (The heads on the M4a are small too, but the #6 nylon washer solved it) - Template guides are ALL plastic (not with brass barrels or all brass) - Centering guide is also all plastic 5 stars per system -1 for the base , -1 for the ground screws and all plastic guides.

Out of the box and to the store in no time! I made a test inlay after drawing a test pattern on paper and then started a geometric pattern on the top of four cherry bookcases I built with maple and walnut inlays. Gilden pivot bushings are quick and easy to change and stay securely in place. By following simple instructions, the pieces cut from the tabs fit together precisely with minimal grinding. This set is better than I had hoped, a rare piece.

Not a bad bait for my purposes. I wish there were a few more options or patterns to look for. Bits are junk though, so you'll need quality spiralizers. The instructions are ok, the CD that comes with the kit has the exact same video on YouTube. You'll have to do some work to create a workspace with plenty of room and a couple of F-style or DoveTail clamps. I haven't seen anything like it at this price point so it's as good as it gets unless you're looking to spend a lot more money.

I am satisfied with this product. I originally used it with an old milled Elu that had no holes in the bottom plate at all - this was an easy three nut and bolt repair. They are made from excellent, durable plastic and are easy and fun to create. inserting it into the pocket leaves a fingernail-width gap at the edge.
