The adjusting springs are not strong enough, the pads are jamming.

It worked great for a week. The pad starts to stick. Dismantled, lubricated parts, nothing has changed. The cushion is so firm that the springs cannot push it out again. Sometimes it's so bad that I have to blow air in to straighten the pillow. Also not calibrated. However, sizing is not difficult as any ruler can be used to line up the bar with the top (i.e. exactly 1 inch from the bottom). However, the setter works well when the springs are working properly.

A little sticky but otherwise ok.

Bought the 950-111 tool setter because one is Mitutoyo and two because it has a machined Z-height plane from the face of the tool setter to the top of the workpiece. This makes it easy and straightforward to get the Z-axis tool offset value for your workpiece. The only problem is that when you set the tool offset on the machine, the machined face of the adjuster that dips into the dial indicator gets stuck at about 1,000 inches. So sometimes you have to press on the setter's face to release it.

Pros
  • Dial indicators
Cons
  • Available in white only

Fantastic product. if it works

I have been in the machining business for 8 years and often use these gauges to set up CNC milling machines. I was so impressed with the accuracy of this zero adjuster that I decided to shell out for it myself. I was disappointed when the first one I received was tied up and didn't show accurate readings. Revain quickly sent out a replacement which, to my dismay, also arrived in non-working condition. I didn't want to wait for the next replacement so I dismantled the whole block. Cleaned…
