Excellent rear shock absorbers

This is the third set of shock absorbers of this type on my truck. I tow my boat a lot and these shocks handle the load well and last a long time. The journey is perfectly loaded or unloaded on a truck. The extra spring on the shock works well with the load on the truck. Do yourself a favor and get some for your truck. 2001 Ford F150 XLT All Wheel Drive with Off-Road Package.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Leaking after 19 months of basic use

Firstly, I like the way they look and they seem to work well towing my 4000 lb RV. Although after 19 months both shock absorbers are leaking I got a fun job of replacing them in the middle of the tourist season. I wonder if Revain sold me a counterfeit product because I don't see "Monroe" anywhere on it. I hate to say it, but I'm starting to distrust Revains products.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

Quality, I love these shock absorbers

. It took a bit of adjustment to fit my 2003 Toyota RAV4 but once we had them wow the RAV4 sits 2 inches higher and handles so much better my rear RAV4 springs are dead and I didn't want to change them. so i bought these shock absorbers and they did a great job

Pros
  • . Good product for the price.
Cons
  • . Quality

So far, so good . . .

The original shock absorbers were worn out and shot on my lightly sprung F-150. I figured those spiral dampers would help reduce load deflection. And so far so good. My F-150 has only one front anti-roll bar. I believe those coil shocks also mimic a rear anti-roll bar. They were a little tricky to install. I have a good spring compressor, but the coil spacing was too tight and the jaws didn't match. In fact, it doesn't even come close. Instead, I used two ratchet straps. I've only had them forโ€ฆ

They are for 4WD trucks, not 2WD.

Very satisfied. I installed them on the back of my 2001 F150 4WD truck in preparation for hauling a vintage truck 600 miles. It worked great in conjunction with the adjustable hitch. To install, I raised the truck's frame a few inches by raising the rear hitch receiver. From the way the truck talks after loading the old truck onto the trailer, I'm convinced the truck sagged seriously in the rear, to the point where handling and braking would have been affected. In terms of handling, the rearโ€ฆ

The best tow mufflers I've ever bought.

Installed on 2002 F150 Reg Cab Long Bed FX4 Ford. My factory Rancho 5000 shocks couldn't handle the tongue weight of the 24 foot RV I'm towing. This put my truck at a cluttered angle and felt like a bad boat ride when towing. These Monroes are amazing, they got my truck hitch angle flat and now it soaks up bumps without the impact of a hard boat ride. I highly recommend them for people towing RVs, car trailers, or heavily loaded trailers to carry the load and ensure a safe and smooth ride. Toโ€ฆ

Great shock absorbers: shock absorber

I have an 01 F-150 that I have improved a bit. I use an 07 F-350 live axle under the rear. I also have a set of 3/4 ton overload springs that hook into the frame if it falls under a heavy load. A huge anti-roll bar on the axle works too. I never changed shock absorbers so they were a must. The back of my truck is so stiff I thought I might miss the new shock absorbers. But thought it was 155,000 so why not replace them. I decided to go with them as they could handle more weight. something iโ€ฆ
