This ribbon is much more transparent than the photo. I think if you wrap it around the spool layer by layer it looks like a nice dark brown color. But it's nowhere near brown. Even the part of the tape that comes off the spool looks darker in the photo than it really is. Luckily I had a spool of brown tape of the same size with a "felt" pattern. At first I thought it was too expensive for the tape until it arrived. I know there were a lot of tapes but I was really shocked by the number. I love how elegant it is.
