Ford Genuine Part - Beautiful

Ordered this one and received a Ford Genuine Part. It costs $150 to install, although there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to do it if you're up to the task. Now we have heat again. I think my original part broke because we were parked at the airport for 11 days in very cold weather. As we got into the car, we immediately turned on the stove and clicks started to be heard. I think it must have been frozen and turning it on before the car was warm was a big mistake.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly torn

FACTORY PART NUMBER

Easy installation is difficult. The part was easy to install once you could reach it. Ford changed the location of the part, but you still have to work in a very limited space. The part works great but allow 2-3 hours from start to finish. My Explorer is 2010, I understand earlier models can last much longer. I rate this part five stars. I rate the engineers who determined the location of the parts less than one star. I highly recommend this piece.

  • Slim design

Still running a year later

Reviving my fiance's 2007 Explorer Sport Trac that had been sitting for over a year and found - on the first really cold morning this fall - that it was running even with the fan running and Engine was warm from the deflectors it wasn't warm. Found out about the mixed door electric actuator, tested it to confirm it was faulty and replaced it with this part. Access was a little finicky through the side of the center console. I think I used a Neiko 0344A ratchet screwdriver instead of a regular…

Great replacement, extremely difficult to install

Thanks to Ford, this part was incredibly complex and difficult to install. The dealer wanted to charge $800 to replace that $40 under-dash part. Now I think it might have been worth it. The part, once installed, solved the popping noise and lack of heat (both front and rear on my 2002 Explorer XLT). If you are not patient and not very flexible, replacing this part might not be a good DIY project. Lots of YouTube videos helped but didn't convey the extreme ergonomic demands of the process. On…

I wish they were better made but work fine as a replacement.

replaced a second time so I wish they had made them a little better. I don't think 3 (original plus 2 spares) over 200,000 miles is bad, except on most Ford vehicles they can be very difficult to achieve. Ford requires a 7-8 hour replacement on the 2004 Explorer that it was installed on, and the Town Cars and Crown Vic chassis require removal of the dashboard and part of the air intake. This can be done in 1.5 hours or less on the Explorer by either pulling back the bottom of the dash or…

Ford Explorer 2006 worked fine for me

Worked great in my 2006 Ford Explorer. Not an easy replacement. It took a few hours and the arduous effort of an amateur like me. FYI, this part is on the lower left side of the console for radio, air traffic control, etc. While driving, look near your right foot. Small wrenches are hard to get in and out of, but if I can do it, so can you. The auto shop called me about three hundred for it, so I tried it myself. Also, if you hear a loud bang, like someone hitting the console from inside…

Easy repair, worked right away

Just replaced the faucet door actuator in a 2008 Eddie Bauer Explorer V6 following these instructions. Very easy to replace by simply removing the driver's footwell side panel and the support post behind it (NOT the entire center console as some manuals claim) and then using a ratchet wrench to remove the drive in hard to reach places. Took 45 minutes and it worked straight away. I recommend turning the heater switch to "cold” before starting. The part number on the block I took out matched…

  • Easy install
Cons
  • Out of style

The right part delivered on time, very economical.

It was exactly what I needed, great price for an auto part and delivery on time. Once you pull the panel around the radio and air conditioning, pull up the center console and remove the panel under the steering wheel, you have access to the switch. Just make sure the heater door is fully open or fully closed. You must have the new actuator in the correct position to ensure correct switch alignment. Mine was already fully closed so I temporarily plugged in the temperature control switch, plugged
