We use them on several computers at work, they're nothing special, but they never give us any problems. They're pretty much plug and play. So if you don't need any special settings, it only takes a few seconds to get them working.

Installation couldn't be simpler - no hard drives to fiddle with and no installers to run. The LS2208 reads barcodes incredibly fast and is very reliable.

I bought this for use in our church library, has one did a great job. It's easy to install and requires no additional configuration before it can work with barcodes on library books. I bought it used and refurbished but it's like new to me. If you need a barcode scanner and you need one for that USB connection, this is a good option for you.
